Maya joins victory bandwagon; SP, RJD too want to be counted
NDTV Correspondent, Tuesday May 19, 2009, New Delhi

It seems everybody is ready to join the victory bandwagon. The Bahujan Samaj Party and the Samajwadi Party have both decided to support the UPA government but they will not be in the UPA's list of supporting parties.

So, both parties are giving their letters of support directly to the President. Mayawati said she didn't expect the UPA to do anything significant for the UP government but still offered unconditional support to keep communal forces at bay.

NDTV had broken the story on Mayawati's representative SC Mishra meeting the prime minister. Manmohan Singh will formally stake the UPA's claim on Wednesday and lobbying for ministries have picked up as swearing in is on Friday.

"The day the results came out during a telephonic conversation, Dr Manmohan Singh told me that I am like his younger sister and requested me to adopt a positive approach to the UPA government against communal forces," said Mayawati, Chief Minister, UP.

The Rashtriya Janata Dal, with four MPs, on Tuesday also announced to extend "unconditional support" to the Congress-led UPA government at the Centre.

RJD leader and former Company Affairs minister in the previous UPA government P C Gupta said he would meet President Pratibha Patil on Tuesday evening to hand over the letter of support of his party.

"We have decided to extend unconditional support to the UPA government as we have always maintained that RJD is a part of the UPA," Gupta told reporters here. (With PTI inputs)

Shameless crooks. I guess if the Congress was 30-40 short of numbers, these same goons Like Maya, Paswan, Lalu and Mulayam would have brought the govt down. "sekooolarism" is just becoming an excuse to support a winning party.

She will undoubtedly destroy the harmony of the UPA, let Madam Sonia ji be on guard. Mayawati will go to any extend to attain her objective.
