Works Minister K. Ranjit Singh and the Minister of Tribal Development Mr Thaisii travelling with Koteshwar Singh were allegedly under the influence of alcohol.

It took more than twelve hours for the government to clarify that Koteshwor Singh was not ambushed but shot by one of his co-passengers.

When asked about investigations the Chief Minister told reporters that since it was a case of accidental firing an enquiry or an investigation will not be required. But the Manipur chapter of The All India Lawyers Union has demanded a CBI enquiry and immediate arrest of the accused.
