Man runs SUV over wife's alleged lover
Press Trust of India, Saturday November 14, 2009, New Delhi
A man, who suspected his wife of having an extra-marital affair with their neighbour, allegedly crushed him to death in New Delhi on Friday.

The incident was reported from Y-Block of Outer Delhi's Mangolpuri at around 3 pm. The accused identified as Pawan Kumar shouted in jubilation after running his car over the deceased, a senior police official said.

Pawan, who runs utensils' shop, allegedly ran his Scorpio car over Sanjeev Kumar (28), whom he suspected of having an illicit relationship with his wife, the official said.

He was arrested and a case of murder registered against him.

Pawan waited for the victim outside his house for some time and when he came out and started his motorcycle, he followed him for a short-distance.

"Then he hit Sanjeev with his car. When he fell down, Pawan ran over the deceased at least thrice," the official said. Sanjeev was pursuing a teacher's training course and was resident of Kirari village.

Quoting eyewitnesses, the official said, that after knocking Sanjeev down, Pawan came out of the car and shouted "I have won".

Pawan suspected that his wife and Sanjeev were having a relationship and asked her not to meet him or talk to him.

"He came to know that they had met last Saturday and this enraged him and so he decided to kill Sanjeev," the official said, adding police is questioning Pawan's wife.

The wife is to blame for this. If she knew that her husband does not like even for her to talk to this person she should have avoided it completely. Who won in the end? none. A lot of domestic violence happens just for this reason. And it's not like this does not happen in the west. At extremes, generally the weapon of choice is a gun there. The only difference is it's tougher in India for the wife to bear the after effects. Who wins in the end? none. This is for both husbands & wives: Avoid any thing to do with the opposite sex until and unless it's business. You never know when a small thing can lead to a misunderstanding leading to a disaster. The man did wrong buy killing that guy. But the blame lies equally on the wife for not handling the situation. And nothing comes out of the blue. There is always some reason. No sympathies for her.
