Mamata's 'unexpected' apology to Siliguri

After losing the Siliguri Mayor's post to the Congress-Left combine, many were speculating that Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee will hit out at the Congress with whom she won the municipal polls. But that did not happen.

Instead, she brought in all the 15 elected Councillors on stage and asked people to forgive her for failing to provide a truly anti-Left board.

The Trinamool Congress chief was furious with the Congress for tying up with the Left for the Siliguri Mayor poll.

Mamata had made it clear she won't discuss the issue with the Congress, but had said that she will discuss with her party workers the future of her party's alliance with the Congress.

Trinamool and Congress had won 15 seats each in the civic body polls but could not compromise on the Mayor's post. So, Congress turned towards the Left while Trinamool decided to sit in the Opposition.
