Madni has close links with Saeed: Chidambaram

Home Minister P Chidambaram has confirmed that the arrested terrorist Umer Madni has links with terror outfit Lashkar-e-Toiba. Madni was arrested by the Delhi Police near Qutub Minar in Mehrauli on Thursday.

Speaking to mediapersons, the Home Minister said, "I compliment the Delhi police for the arrest of Umed Madni. The man arrested in Delhi has LeT links."

Reacting on BJP leader L K Advani's demand that just like the 9/11 commission, the country and Parliament be told what went wrong on 26/11, Chidambaram said, "I am amused with the demand of commission of inquiry into 26/11. Why didn't the BJP order an inquiry after Kandahar or Parliament attack?"

The BJP leader had voiced his demand while speaking in the Lok Sabha.

Meanwhile, the sources in Delhi Police have said that Madni is LeT's chief in Nepal and a key aide of Hafiz Saeed.

The sources also said that Madni's job is to recruit people for Lashkar-e-Toiba and has recruited over 30 people for Lashkar.

On Friday, the Special Branch of Delhi Police said that it will produce Madni in court.

Madni is also believed to be close to Hafiz Saeed, the Jammat-ud-Dawa chief and one of the main accused in 26/11. However, the JuD has been quick to deny Madni's links. The group's spokesman Yahya Mujahid said that Madni, who has been arrested in India, is not linked with JuD.

Nearly 7500 US dollars and some fake Indian currency was seized from him by the Delhi police at the time of the arrest. According to reports, Madni is also involved in "talent scouting" for the Lashkar-e-Toiba.

hi all Apologies for my anti India comments earlier. Kashmiri people in their heads want to be with India but we are just onfused between being with Pakistan and India. lets face the fact that we are a community driven society and the ghetto-ism among us hasn't really helped to get into maintstream politics. I request every INDIAN to please consider the request to consider all kashmiri as Indians and help us get into the mainstream. we want to get educated and we want to get out of the relegious issues. Jai Hind comes for me before than Allah! sorry for my anti India comments earlier. sorry.

Again, the UPA government - Chidambram, SM Krishna have started the dirty politics of being scared with the BJP and have started politicising the situation and blaming Pakistan for the failure of self and diverting the attention and arresting some innocent with fake documents and proofs. Just to impress the oposition and keep their mouth shut. Remember the incident of Delhi police involved of fake encounters cases where many minority people were arrested with fake documents and murdered innocent human beings. Is this humanity ? Is this way the government should deal with their own fellow citizens ? Just because the poor person is from a minority community and cannot afford any help to prove his innocence ? His comunity members cannot provide any help just because the fear from the harrasment they will be receiving from the police dept., and courts ? Is this the justice system of India? The Indian constitution says, " A person is considered to be innocent untill proven guilt" Where as its the opposite in India - which is as - "Guilty untill proven innocent." Where is the humanity ? Mr. Chidambram, I want to ask you, even after getting Shoed, you have not learnt any lesson ? Mr Krishna, why do you want to divert the attention of the public by blaming Pakistan for every failure of you and your Government including the opposition ? Is this real democracy ? I would suggest a debate should be made publicly to change the meaning of democracy.
