Ishrat case: Law Minister speaks out
NDTV Correspondent, Thursday September 10, 2009, New Delhi

Law Minister Veerappa Moily has finally broken his silence on the Ishrat Jehan encounter case and said it has not acted against a law officer.

He also said there were no differences with the Home Ministry on the issue. The Law Ministry will now file a special leave petition in the Supreme Court.

Earlier, there were reports that the Law Ministry was upset with the Home Ministry affidavit submitted in the Gujarat High Court that Ishrat and three others were members of the Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT).

Apparently, the affidavit was prepared by the Home Ministry three years ago, but was only recently filed in court.
