Ishrat case: Apex court notice to Gujarat govt
NDTV Correspondent, Tuesday October 6, 2009, Ahmedabad
The Supreme Court has issued notices to the Gujarat government, the Centre and the CBI on a petition filed by Ishrat's mother. She has challenged the Gujarat High Court order which had stayed a report that said Ishrat and three others were killed in a fake encounter.

The report had alleged that top Gujarat police officers had branded Ishrat as a terrorist who had plotted to kill Narendra Modi and killed her in cold blood to earn rewards.

Ishrat's mother has also demanded that her daughter's death be probed by an independent agency.
