Tags: Delhi High Court judgement, legalising gay sex

The Delhi High Court's Judgement will doubtless decriminalise homosexual relations between consenting gays. So there would be no hounding of homosexuals as criminals. But this does not legalise homosexual relations or give sanctity to it. Decriminalising would mean they can move without fear or favour. At the same time, it provides an opportunity for reforming them. Homosexual tendencies get developed as a result of domestic and social conditioning and it is not inborn or related to genes as some would like to project it. If it is genetic then it becomes hereditary. But there is nothing to suggest that parents of gays are also gays. Homosexuality is largely an urban phenomenon and it is practically absent in rural areas. This again shows that homosexuality is due to social conditioning and not genetically related. Homosexuality is to be treated humanely. This can be done by having counselling centres or training shrinks and make their services available in towns and cities. This way a majority of gays can be brought back to "natural" state.India should stop short of decriminalising gay relationships and not go further to legalise it as some countries have done to provide alternative relationships.
