Ruchika Girhotra's family lawyer will meet top Home Ministry officials on Wednesday.

The ministry has called Ruchika's lawyer Pankaj Bhardwaj to Delhi to discuss how to go about the case.

The two new cases accuse Rathore of fabricating documents related to Ruchika's death and of using his position to frame her brother, Ashu, of theft. Ashu was arrested in 1993. Unable to cope with the persecution of her family, Ruchika drank poison. Her brother was released from prison immediately after her death, and acquitted of all charges.

The CBI indicated on Tuesday that new cases could be made out against Rathore on the basis of disclosures made by former joint director R M Singh who initially handled the case. Singh had said that Rathore tried to influence him and expressed his willingness to testify. (Read: Justice for Ruchika: How you can help)
