Cong stands by Liberhan Report on Rao
NDTV Correspondent, Thursday November 26, 2009, Mumbai

The Congress on Thursday said it stood by the Liberhan Report on its assessment of then Prime Minister Narsimha Rao's role in the 1992 Babri Masjid demolition.

The report says the former prime minister was neither directly or indirectly involved in the demolition. The party said he had been denied ticket in the next elections only because of public anger.

About two years ago, as Rahul Gandhi was wooing Uttar Pradesh, he had said that the Babri Masjid would not have been demolished if a member of the Gandhi family had been active then.
