Chidambaram should have been harsher: Mamata
NDTV Correspondent, Monday April 5, 2010, Kolkata

Trinamool chief Mamata Banerjee is not happy with Home Minister P Chidambaram's reprimand for West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee. According to her it was mild one, she said Chidambaram should have used much stronger words.

Mamata Banerjee's statement comes after the Home Minister visited the Naxal heartland of Lalgarh on Sunday following a meeting in Kolkata with the West Bengal CM.

Speaking to the press Mr Chidambaram said that the state administration had to take more effective steps. (Read & watch: Chidambaram's tough message for Buddha)

The Home Minister should spend some time in parts of Maharashtra that adjoin Andhra and MP. One is keen to know whether he reserves these words only for non-cong govts? When the late Rajasekar Reddy took over as CM, it came out that a large group of maoists were let free from the Nallamalla forests after being circled by the security forces. Probably that was good enough.

Mamata should not forget that PC knows what protocol and decency is to be maintained when he meets a state CM. He can not make Home Minister's post controversial by using harsh words on any CM. Mamata should make herself ready to answer state's misrule through ballot and not by words. Wazir
