BJP should have denied Varun a ticket: Mishra
NDTV Correspondent, Friday June 12, 2009, New Delhi

After senior leader Jaswant Singh, the NDA's former national security advisor Brajesh Mishra has criticised his Bharatiya Janata Party's campaign going into elections.

Mishra said the public did not like the politics of negativism adopted by the BJP.

Speaker on NDTV's Walk the Talk, Mishra said that the Hindutva message did not go down well. In fact, he said that BJP should have just cut out Varun Gandhi.

Earlier, Jaswant Singh, who criticised several decisions taken by the BJP leadership at a closed-door meeting of the party on Wednesday, openly questioned the party's defining mantra of Hindutva.

Speaking to NDTV's Barkha Dutt, Jaswant Singh said that the party had no clarity on what Hindutva meant or stood for. He said extreme elements had dented the party's image and it was in danger of becoming a party of yesterday.

And as Jaswant Singh questioned what Hindutva was, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat on the other hand called up L K Advani to express his dissatisfaction over an article written by senior BJP leader Sudheendra Kulkarni in a magazine. The article blames the BJP hardliners for the party's poll debacle.

Too naive i think to talk of writing off a party with 115 seats. To talk in these terms of Advani and BJP itself means creating a chasm in Indian society afterall its not a idea you can wish away in the near future. Dynastic and rule by remote are equally antiquated ideas, but these are celebrated today.

Arvind has unerringly pointed out that the "divisive" politics is the brainchild of Advani and his "traumatic experience of partition" in 1947,in Karachi(Pakistan). The Muslims and other minorities in India have been living here as more than "blood brothers"!They share their joys and sorrows together. It is due to this preference of them for "peaceful coexistence" that even after 800 years rule of Muslim Sultans in India, and hundred years of British rule "the demographic ratios" have NOT been changed! Mughals ruled for three hundred years and their empire was extending upto Madurai in South India. Many historical researcher aver that Auragzeb granted a village in Chitrakoot for the upkeep of the Ram temple! To create hatred between Hindus and Muslims Hindutva leaders distorted history and set the fanatics against Christians on the pretext that they were out to convert all.To add to it, some outfits took up the role of Moral police and created arson. All these led the voters to wake up and make the right decision.

Headley travelled around the world, plotted, hired and left the execution to people he had picked up to execute the job.
Before each election, the govt has a record of slowing down its operations against the outfit in some sort of a symbiotic exchange.
