2 more test positive for swine flu in AP
NDTV Correspondent, Sunday June 7, 2009, Hyderabad

Two more people in Andhra Pradesh have tested positive for swine flu, taking the total number of infected cases detected in the state to seven.

The two fresh cases detected include the mother of a five-year-old who tested positive on Sunday, and a 24-year-old man.

Both of them were co-passengers of the 28-year-old software engineer who had returned from the US on May 31 with the H1N1 virus.

A Central team consisting mainly of experts from the National Institute of Communicable Diseases is in Hyderabad to discuss contingency plans with the state government.

The team is in Hyderabad as five of the seven confirmed H1N1 cases in the country have been reported in Andhra Pradesh. This includes the first case of a person who has got the infection locally.

A 25-year-old engineer in Hyderabad got infected after staying with his 28-year-old software engineer brother who had returned from the US on May 31 with the H1N1 virus on a British Airways flight.

Hello, have been watching swine flu coverage on the news. Just wanted to bring one fact to everyones attention that the masks they have been using in India are not ideal for containment as you can still inhale air from the sides rendering masks useless. Unless the masks are of special variety which secure around nose and chin and tightly against the cheeks so that air is not inhaled from the side. Would be obliged if you could pass it to proper authorities.
