A major security lapse was reported ahead of the second Test match between India and Sri Lanka in Kanpur.

A man carrying a revolver broke through the heavy security cordon and entered the Green Park Stadium premises, hours after the Indian and Sri Lankan teams arrived in the city.

The man, who claimed to be a journalist, was arrested by the police immediately and he is being interrogated.

Kanpur DIG, BP Jogdand, said the city police immediately sprang into action after they got information that a man was roaming near the parking area of the stadium with a revolver around his waist.
