After terror alert, private firms want security
Nitin Gokhale, Tuesday December 15, 2009, New Delhi
After the government acknowledged that IT companies are likely to be targeted by terrorists, nearly a hundred firms all over the country have applied for government security.

So far, 169 men from the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) guard two private firms in Bangalore: Infosys and Electronics City. The companies pay for this security cover.

Now, with more companies wanting to do the same, the government has shortlisted "who's eligible".

Priority-I: Petroleum and Natural Gas installations, power plants, IT and Communication Institutions who do business with big international players;

Priority-II: Industrial units extremely important for the Indian economy and located in areas dominated by Naxals or other militants.

Priority-III: Ship building yards, Research Institutions, Heritage Hotels

they can approach authorities but they must pay for it. these are profitable organizations and they must pay to the government authorities. How they can use tax payers money for free. Here in Canada police can be deputed even in constructions site but they must pay for it. Police can opt for overtime and those will be covered by the private sector. so let this private sector pay for it and government should provide only basic security and anything special security coverage these companies should pay to government.
