Actor Shiney Ahuja has been granted bail in the case where he's accused of raping his domestic help. He's been asked to pay Rs 50,000 and has to leave Mumbai.  

Ahuja has told the court he will move to Delhi to stay with his parents. He has to submit his passport to the police so that he cannot leave the country without permission. He will also have to report every week to a police station in Delhi. Ahuja has been denied bail twice in the past. 

Reacting to the grant of bail, his wife Anupam Ahuja said: "I am overwhelmed that he has got bail. Our faith in judiciary has been restored. We have to now start planning our next step."

According to the order we have to live in Delhi so we will move there, she added.

Shiney's lawyers gave the argument that the evidence presented did not prove rape. Also that if at all something happened it was consensual.

They also argued that with the chargesheet filed, Shiney could in no way influence the investigation or the witness, especially as the victim is in police protection.

The prosecution insisted that Ahuja should stay in as it had the medical and forensic evidence to keep him there.

The argument has worked more than once in lower courts, but not this time.

Ahuja is now free to get back to a career that currently rests on the success of a yet to released film.
