Nepal bridge collapse: Indian, 2 others killed

At least two pilgrims, including an Indian, were killed and around two dozen injured when wooden bridge over a river collapsed in southern Nepal on Monday.

The pilgrims were going to attend a festival on the occasion of Haribodhani Ekadashi in Baraha area in Sunsari district.

The Indian national has been identified as Laxmi Sah, 55, of Supaul in Bihar. Dev Narayan Yadav, 70, of Amarpur Saptari also died in the accident, the police said.

Around two dozen people were also injured in the incident.

Hundreds of thousands of devotees from both India and Nepal gather at Baraha to celebrate the festival, which starts from Kartik Sukla Ekadashi to Purnima or full Moon day in Barah area.
