Another Indian student attacked in Australia
NDTV/Press Trust of India, Monday August 10, 2009, Melbourne

There has been another attack against an Indian student in Australia. Mohit Mangal, an engineering student in Sydney, was beaten up with beer bottles by unidentified people on Friday night.

Mohit, who belongs to Indore, was working part time as a supervisor at a mall. This attack comes even as External Affairs Minister SM Krishna has been assured by Australia that they're doing all they can to ensure the safety of Indian students there.

PTI adds: Confirming the incident, Mohit's father Anil Mangal, who runs an automobile business in Indore, said Mohit was out of danger.

"My son had no enmity with anyone there and the incident, it appears, might be a continuation of ongoing racial attacks on Indian students in Australia," Anil said.

Agree with Purvi. After those rallies on Melbourne's and Sydney's Roads, the Australian newspapers have completely stopped reporting attacks on Indians. I keep myself updated via Indian news sites. They probably dont want any more provocation but hiding the head under sand is no solution.

Very few indians come to Australia to study science and maths and medicine and whoever comes studies in universities and institute of high repute and the dubious institutes do not try their hands in high level education. Indian govt should stop allowing students to come over to Australia to study in educational institute which are not recognised by govt of Australia and also think whether its worth allowing students to come over to Australia to do vocational courses where most of the problems like dubious education facilities are involved . After all people are free to do whatever they want to do in their own life but its probably govtment's duty to make its citizen aware of the possible problems.
