Mid-Day.com, Saturday May 8, 2010, Mumbai
airhostessaccident216.jpgA 22-year-old air hostess died in an accident on Link Road, Malad, on Friday and three of her colleagues sustained serious injuries.

The deceased, Bhagwati Chaitri, was driving a Honda Accord while returning from a pub.

"When she reached the traffic signal opposite Hypercity super market, an Indica coming from the opposite direction took a sudden turn. Chaitri lost control of the vehicle and rammed into the Indica," said Maruti Telang, senior Police Inspector of Bangur Nagar police station.

The car also hit two auto-rickshaws before turning turtle. "Chaitri banged against the windscreen and suffered injuries to her skull. As she wasn't wearing a seat belt, the air bags failed to reduce the impact of the collision," Telang added.

The injured Varun Shetty (25), Yatish Shetty (26) and Jyoti Chand (24) have been admitted to Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital while driver of the Indica was admitted to Bhagwati Hospital.

The cops also said Yatish and Chaitri were to get married soon.

Whatever is fated applies, but there is no harm in being cautious - in this case the girl should have been wearing seat belts- the benefit of which is something we often fail to understand.
