Special courts for corruption cases in Bihar
Press Trust of India, Wednesday February 10, 2010, Patna
Tightening noose around corrupt public servants in Bihar, the state government has decided to
constitute special courts for hearing corruption cases against such officials under the Bihar Special Courts Act.

"The state Cabinet approved rules for constitution of the special courts for corruption cases under the provisions of the Bihar Special Courts Act on Tuesday", official sources said on Wednesday.

The act, approved by the Centre after the state government ensured its passage in the state assembly in 2008, would empower the authorities to confiscate the assets accumulated by public servants which are disproportionate to their known sources of income.

Politicians, bureaucrats and other persons who draw salary from the state exchequer have been defined as public servants in the act.
