Mumbai's drunk driver was also on drugs
NDTV Correspondent, Wednesday February 10, 2010, Mumbai

The drunk driver who killed a policeman and a motorcyclist on Mumbai's Marine Drive last month had also done drugs before the accident.

Nooriya Haveliwala's blood samples have tested positive for cannabis and morphine.

Haveliwala was driving home to Chembur late at night when she rammed her SUV into a police checkpoint.  A biker who had been pulled over for a breathalyzer died immediately.  A policeman died a few hours later in hospital.

Haveliwala, a beautician, is in prison and has been charged with culpable homicide not amounting to murder.

Her father told PTI in an earlier interview that his daughter was not drunk, and that the machine used for her breathalyzer test was not working.

"Any person who consumes over 430 ml alcohol can either be completely unconscious or semi-unconscious. In fact they can't even walk. But my daughter, wearing high heels, was walking straight. Something is wrong with the machine as the amount of alcohol content it indicated was not correct," Yousuf Haveliwala, who also claims to be a physician, said.

Nooriya's mother, Yousuf said, "She never had any kind of criminal problem. She hardly drinks alcohol. She consumes beer, and that too once a while."

I am shocked to see that uoung guys reading class 7-8 going to school on 2 wheelers. Have these guys got driving license? How these guys got hold of 2 wheelers? Their parents must have provided them 2 wheelers. All such guys should be caught and their parents should be put behind bars. Lets start killing the root cause of all the accidents and crimes.
