For years now, as a journalist I have been covering the day-to-day hearings of various terror trials. Attacks that have killed hundreds and have always attempted to butcher the 'spirit of Mumbai'. The Ghatkopar BEST bus blast, the 7/11 attack on crowded trains, blasts at Mulund, Vile Parle and the Bombay Central railway stations, the twin blasts that shook the Gateway of India and Zaveri Bazaar, the series of bomb blasts by the Indian Mujahideen across the country and of course, who can forget the 1993 Bombay blasts.

I climbed on the rooftop, stretched my arms up in the air and my fingers began fiddling. I just required a very minuscule portion of it. "Wahan nahin," I was advised by a village boy. "Thoda do kadam aage jaayein. Haan.. bas bas.. Ab milenga."

Kasab: Chiller breaking killer?

It was not easy to see him. A policeman was standing right between us, refusing to budge. I - like many others - had to slide down the bench I was sitting on and then, through the wooden fence that enclosed the dock, I caught a glimpse of him. The reality of the situation struck me. The disbelieving murmurs in the courtroom were indeed true.
