Man Gets 1 Year Jail For Circulating Obscene Photos Of Girl

A man has been sentenced to jail for circulating objectionable photographs of a girl on social media

Muzaffarnagar: A man has been sentenced to a year in jail by a court for circulating on social media "objectionable" photographs of a girl but was acquitted of rape charge.

Additional Sessions Judge Rajesh Bhardwaj yesterday held Yogesh Kumar guilty of circulating "objectionable" pictures of the 18-year-old girl on WhatsApp under Section 67A (transmitting of material containing sexually explicit act) of the IT Act, but acquitted him of rape charge due to lack of evidence, government counsel Inam Tyagi said.

The court also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on the accused.

Mr Tyagi said the girl had in a complaint alleged she was forcibly taken to a house by Mr Kumar when she had gone out of home to fetch water and raped in Bisheda village on April 24, 2011.
