Mumbai woman duped of Rs 72,000

Mumbai: A woman lost a large sum of money when she went to pick currency notes scattered on the ground at Thane railway station on Thursday. Taking advantage of the distraction, someone decamped with her suitcase which included cash and jewellery.

Saraswati Gendala, 23, a resident of Veer Savarkar Nagar was going to her hometown in Andhra Pradesh with her husband Ganapati. He asked her to wait near the station and went to buy tickets.

A stranger who was standing near Saraswati, told her that some money was lying on the ground. When she noticed seven notes of Rs10 were lying near her feet, she leaned to pick the currency.

After counting the money, she realised that her suitcase, which contained valuables worth Rs72,000 was missing.
