The chopper, which took off from Vile Parle this morning, had gone missing. It was scheduled to make a stop at Aurangabad on its way to Nagpur. Sources say it crashed almost 20 minutes after take-off.
The helicopter was usually used in offshore flights. Though the exact cause of the crash is not knows, reports say the chopper touched a high tension wire and crashed.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation has sent a team to probe the crash.
Repeated attempts to contact the United Helicharters have failed.
