Mumbai:

Cheval Bar and Restaurant in Kalaghoda, a popular restaurant and bar in South Mumbai, has cancelled comedian Aditi Mittal's show which was scheduled on Wednesday evening. While the restaurant has not given a reason, sources say the decision to cancel the show has been necessitated by the fear of protests against Ms Mittal, who was one of the panelists on the AIB Roast, which has run into controversy.

The restaurant said the show has been cancelled due to "unforeseen circumstances", when NDTV called their reservation desk.

In the morning, a post on the restaurant's Facebook page read, "We're all set to crack you up tonight! In the spotlight: Aditi Mittal, Karunesh Talwar, #KunalKamra & #KTS. Free entry! #WednesdayWisecrackers The Awkward Fruit. Call for reservations at 022-40396638."

However, around 9:30 pm, the restaurant put up a post saying, "Just to let you guys know once again, tonights edition of Wednesday Wisecrackers is cancelled. If you're on your way here, don't turn around. We've still got the bar and some great music to deliver a fun night."

Aditi Mittal was a part of the AIB Roast, a video of which went viral on Youtube. The roast was attended by 4,000 people including Bollywood A-listers. Its reviews were not all positive - some found the jokes were in poor taste, and too expletive-heavy. But many said that's the point of a roast.

The Maharashtra State Performance Scrutiny Board, which assigns permits for live events and decides whether the content of these performances is suitable, plans to ask the Mumbai Police to investigate the AIB Roast.
