Support my school

With the second season of Support My School campaign we aspire to make a difference to at least 100 schools across India.

This season, we aim to work with schools in Visakhapatnam, Palakkad, Chennai, Jaipur, Nagpur, Jabaplur, Guwahati (Amri), Lucknow, Faizabad, Varanasi, Patna and Hyderabad.

Target beneficiary: 182 students; Staff strength: 5; Up to standard: 8th

Access To Water: The school has only one hand pump, which is used amongst 182 student. There is just one damaged and abandoned cement tank. A bore well was provided through an initiative but has become obsolete over a period of time. A bore well (150ft.), a submersible motor and a mini tank (syntax) with a capacity of 1000 liter need to be provided. Pipelines for supply lines and delivery lines are required. One reverse osmosis system for water purification needs to be installed. Also water drums for storage purposes need to be provided.

Rain Water Harvesting: There is no structure for rainwater harvesting in the school campus Rain water harvesting structure will be built for the three concrete buildings, one each for each concrete building. Five recharge pits will be provided for the open space. The structure meant for buildings will be percolation pit with bore well method and the structures meant for open space is recharge pits.

Toilets: The school has three toilet buildings. Two toilet buildings were completely damaged and left abandoned. The third toilet building is partly damaged and is being used by the teachers and staff. The two damaged buildings need to be demolished and reconstructed, which will include two toilets and two urinals each. The one partially damaged building will be repaired, and two urinals and two toilets will be repaired, thus.

Trees/Landscaping: There are all but two trees in the campus, thus a lot of vacant space which can be utilized for planting trees and landscaping. The campus has no boundary wall. 100 saplings are to be planted in the campus, including Neem and Ashok varieties. Flower plants will be planted along the compound wall as part of landscaping. A compound wall will be constructed to protect the structure.

Sports: The school does not have any arrangement or materials or mechanism for sports and games. Two Seesaw structures, one volleyball court, one Tennis court and one sliding structure will be provided along with nets and balls.
