Zilla Parishad High School Kankal Village, Pudur Mandal, Ranga Reddy District

Target Beneficiaries: 765 students, 22 staff; Up to Standard: 10th

Drinking Water: An existing hand bore well is not in working condition due to depletion of ground water. Students are forced to collect water from nearby bore wells. Deepening the existing bore well with motor and syntax tank, one RO plant with capacity of 250 liters per hour are required which would ensure students an easy access to safe drinking water and will be able to maintain toilets.

Rain Water Harvesting System: As it does not exist yet, an infiltration bore well and pipelines from the roof are required so as to collect water in order to recharge the ground water directly. This will ensure long term sustainability of improved quality of the water source.

Toilets: Students have no option but to use one functional toilet in the adjacent primary school. Construction of new toilets will result in improved hygiene and cleanliness, and reduces the likelihood of diseases.

Infrastructure/Landscaping: Some grass and shrubs, tree plantations exist within the compound. School buildings can be improved by whitewashing and painting of walls .These measures will improve the overall appearance of the school and the school compound.

Sports: As no sports facilities are available, a small badminton court could be built which will promote the retention of children in government schools and develop their physical strength by playing.
