Mother is Lawmaker. What He Did When Asked To Show Film Tickets

Lucknow: A security guard working in a shopping mall was mercilessly thrashed in Uttar Pradesh capital Lucknow by the son of a lawmaker of the state's ruling Samajwadi Party.

CCTV footage shows the Samajwadi lawmaker's son Ugrasen Pratap Singh and his friends assaulting the guard, who had allegedly just asked the group to show their cinema tickets outside a theatre.

The incident took place in the Gomtinagar area.

In the footage, the group is seen arguing with the guard. Soon the conversation turns ugly and the men launch a full-blown assault on him.

The police have yet to take any action against any of the accused including Ugrasen, who is the son of Samajwadi Party lawmaker Lal Munni Singh from the Sidhartnagar area.

Even though police were quick to reach the spot they were reluctant to take any action against the youths because their political clout, an eye-witness said.

"This is jungle-raj in UP. What was the fault of the guard? He was just following his duty," BJP spokesperson Vijaya Bahadur Pathak said.

"Even though the entire footage was recorded on CCTV, why has there been no action taken?" he said.

The incident comes in the middle of a national debate over "VIP behaviour," especially unfair privileges rendered to politicians and their kin.
