Kolkata: Maoist posters found at metro station

Kolkata: Maoist posters, blaming armed CPI(M) cadre for the January seven firing at Lalgarh and
demanding their ouster, were found posted on the walls at Chandani Chowk metro station in Kolkata on Tuesday.

The posters, written in red ink, also demanded the release of Maoist central committee member Sudip Chongdar alias Kanchan who had planned the Lalgarh movement in 2008 and was arrested from the metropolis on December 4 last year.

The posters demanded the withdrawal of the joint security forces from West Midnapore district, while one blamed the Centre for the price rise of essential commodities.

The posters were removed, police sources said.

Senior police officers said they were inquiring how Maoist posters could be pasted on the walls of the metro station when policemen were posted round the clock.

Earlier, two Maoist posters had been found at Ganguly Bagan, which comes under Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee's Assembly segment.

The posters had also been found at Nandan, the state government cultural complex here where the chief minister visits in the evenings and also at the state secretariat Writers' Buildings.
