Muslim League Worker Hacked To Death In Kerala's Kozhikode

Mohammad Aslam was recently acquitted in a murder case of a 19-year-old.

Kozhikode: A young Muslim League worker was hacked to death by unidentified men in Kerala's Kozhikode on Friday, which was followed by tension in the area.

Mohammad Aslam, 20, was returning home in Vadakara district in the evening on a two-wheeler when a group of men in a car attacked him with sharp weapons. Two other men riding with Aslam fell off the vehicle but survived the attack.

Aslam was recently acquitted in a murder case of a 19-year-old Democratic Youth Federation of India worker - associated with the Left - in June.

Kerala's Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala condemned the incident as revenge murder. "It's sad that CPM has taken law into their hands", he told the media.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan called the murder unfortunate and said a special team of Police will investigate the case and the district administration is doing everything possible to ensure normalcy.

Police say the motive behind the murder was not clear and the attackers had not been identified yet.

Prohibitory orders have been implemented in Vadakara to maintain law and order.
