Malayalam actor Dileep was questioned for over 12 hours in Aluva, near Kochi.
Malayalam superstar Dileep and director Nadirshah were questioned for over 12 hours in the outskirts of Kochi on Wednesday, a week after they filed a police complaint against the jailed driver of an actress in Kerala, who was kidnapped and molested in February.
Actor Dileep and director Nadirshah had alleged that the aides of the driver, known as Pulsar Suni, prime accused in the kidnapping and molestation case, were blackmailing them for 1.5 crores.
Mr Dileep has claimed that he was threatened with being falsely linked to the case if he refuses to pay up. Mr Nadirshah, known to be close to the actor, claimed that he too received phone calls to convey similar threatening messages to Mr Dileep.
In February,
the actress, while travelling to Kochi for work, was restrained in a moving car for nearly two hours while a gang of at least four men molested her and also took photos on their cellphones. Six people, including the driver she had sacked, Pulsar Suni, were arrested.
According to the police, detailed statements of the actor and the director on the blackmailing complaint as well as other aspects of the kidnapping and molestation case were taken on Wednesday. "No clean chits have been given to anyone since the case is still under investigation," a police official said.
"I have given all details about my complaint to the police," Mr Dileep, who appeared calm, told reporters as he left the police camp after the questioning that started on Wednesday afternoon.
Earlier this week,
the actress broke her silence and said she is contemplating to take legal action against an actor after he alleged that she was friends with her former driver.
In a statement to the press, she said, "It's been brought to my knowledge that an actor has said that the accused in this case - Pulsar Suni and I were friends and that one should be careful while befriending people. This has pained me. If such baseless allegations are made against me, I am even willing to take legal action, if required."
Her co-star Dileep, in an interview to a local TV channel, appeared to suggest that the actress should have been more cautious about who she befriended.
