21 persons were arrested in the city for allegedly creating nuisance or driving in an inebriated condition during new year celebrations, police said today.
Apart from this, challans were issued for 48 vehicles, for violating traffic norms, they said.
A special drive was conducted by the city police last night to keep a watch on hooliganism and drunk and rash driving, police said, adding that the drive was carried out from 11:30 pm to 2 am.
The drive was carried out under the supervision of SSP Shalabh Mathur.
During the drive, 21 persons were arrested for allegedly carrying out hooliganism or driving in an inebriated condition, they said.
Also, drivers of around 48 vehicles were fined for violation of traffic rules, they said.
Police teams were deployed outside clubs, hotels and prominent junctions.
There was no other untoward incident in the city and the drive will continue today, they said.
