UPSC CS Preliminary Notification 2017: Know Services And Posts You Can Apply

New Delhi: It is a belief among some of the civil services aspirants that the Union Public Service Commission conducts this examination only for Indian Administrative Services (IAS), Indian Police Services (IPS) and Indian Foriegn Services. In fact, it is not. The UPSC Civil Services examination is being conducted for recruitment in more than twenty services which come under Central Government. UPSC published the notification for UPSC Civil Services Preliminary Examination 2017 and the interested candidates can apply for the exam before March 17, 2017.

UPSC civil services preliminary examination notification which was released today has stated the UPSC CS Prelims 2017 will be conducted for following posts and services:
Indian Administrative Service (IAS) 
Indian Foreign Service (IFS)
Indian Police Service (IPS)
Indian P & T Accounts and Finance Service, Group A 
Indian Audit and Accounts Service, Group A 
Indian Revenue Service (Customs and Central Excise), Group A 
Indian Defence Accounts Service, Group A 
Indian Revenue Service (I.T.), Group A 
Indian Ordnance Factories Service, Group A (Assistant Works Manager, Administration)
Indian Postal Service, Group A 
Indian Civil Accounts Service, Group A 
Indian Railway Traffic Service, Group A

Apart from all these posts and services, the Union Public Services Commission (UPSC) has notified for the Indian Forest Services (IFS). The preliminary examination for this will be done through Civil Services only.
