SBI PO 2017: How To Prepare For Prelims In Two Months

New Delhi: State Bank of India, on February 07 released the notification for recruitment of Probationary Officers (PO). While the application process is ongoing and the exam will be conducted at the end of April 2017, the candidates must be in a state of dizzy over the level of their preparation. SBI PO recruitment exam is conducted online, and hence can prove to be a tricky for candidates. However, with adequate preparation and right strategy, candidates can easily qualify the preliminary examination.

SBI PO 2017: Exam Pattern for Prelims

SBI conducts the written examination for PO recruitment in two phases. The first phase is the preliminary examination. Preliminary examination is a computer-based test. The Preliminary Exam is of one hour duration and comprises of 100 objective questions. The maximum marks for Prelims exam is 100. 

SBI PO Preliminary exam paper has three sections - English Language, Quantitative Aptitude, and Reasoning Ability. While Quantitative Ability and Reasoning Aptitude section has 35 questions each, the English language section has 30 questions. 

In order to qualify the preliminary exam, a candidate must score cut off marks set by SBI in each of the three sections. 

SBI PO 2017: Quick Preparation Tips

With the Preliminary exam scheduled for the end of April, aspirants have roughly two and a half months to prepare for the exam. While there is no cap to the maximum duration adequate for preparation, two months can certainly be counted as the minimum requisite time required to prepare for the exam. Some quick preparation tips are given below:
  • Brush up your basics and practice numerical problems.
  • Do not delve into learning newer concepts and focus on what you already know.
  • Bank exams have most number of questions from Profit and Loss, Compound and Simple Interest, Average, and Data Interpretation. Practice more questions from these topics.
  • Read newspaper and note down new words you come across to strengthen your vocabulary. 
  • Solve word and number puzzles in newspapers and magazines for reasoning ability preparation. 
  • Solve online mock tests. Since the exam will be computer-based, solving online mocks will help immensely.
  • Solve as many sample papers as you can lay your hands on.
