Rajya Sabha Secretariat Recruitment Cell has begun the online application for various posts ranging from Post Group Code I to IV. The recruitment is being done for 115 vacancies. The selection process for all the posts will involve multiple stages, i.e. Preliminary Test, Main Examination, Skill Test, and Interview.

Rajya Sabha Recruitment For 115 Vacancies, Check Selection Process

New Delhi: Rajya Sabha Secretariat Recruitment Cell has begun the online application for various posts ranging from Post Group Code I to IV. The online application will end on August 18, 2017. The recruitment is being done for 115 vacancies. The selection process for all the posts will involve multiple stages, i.e. Preliminary Test, Main Examination, Skill Test, and Interview. For the post of Interpreter, Oration test will be conducted instead of Preliminary Test. For posts where Preliminary test is conducted, it will only be of qualifying in nature while for posts where Oration test is conducted, it will be included while preparing the final merit list.

The post wise selection process and corresponding merit list preparation is explained below. Candidates would need to qualify in the previous round of selection process to be called for the next round of selection. 
 

Selection Process for Assistant Legislative/Committee/Protocol/Executive Officer

 
The selection process will consist of a Preliminary Test, Main Examination, and Interview. Preliminary Test will be of 3 hours duration consisting of 180 questions, carrying 1 marks each. There would be three sections in this test - General Intelligence, General Awareness, and English Language. 

The Main Exam will be of descriptive type and constitute two papers - English language and Constitution of India. English language paper will be of 2 hours and carry 80 marks. Constitution of India paper will be of 3 hours and carry 100 marks. 

Final selection round will be interview. The minimum qualifyomg marks in both main exam and interview for general candidates is 50%, for OBC candidates is 45%, and for SC/ST candidates is 40%. 

Merit list will be prepared on the basis of overall marks secured in Main exam (180 marks) and Interview (20 marks). 
 

Selection Process for Proof Reader/Translator


The Preliminary Test will be of 3 hours duration and carry 200 marks. The sections in Preliminary test will be General Intelligence, General Awareness, English Language, and Hindi Language. 

The Main Examination will be of descriptive type. There would be two papers. Paper I will have questions from English language and Hindi language and will be of 3 hours duration carrying 100 marks. Paper II will have Proof Reading/Translation (English) and Proof Reading/Translation (Hindi) carrying 120 marks. The test duration for proof reading will be 90 minutes while the test duration for translation will be 2 hours. 

The last round is interview carrying 30 marks. Minimum qualifying marks for both main exam and interview is same as Assistant Legislative Officer. The final merit list will be prepared on the basis of overall marks secured in both main exam and interview.

Selection Process for Secretariat Assistant/Stenographer


The Preliminary examination will be of 3 hours duration and carry 180 marks. There would be three sections - General Intelligence, General Awareness, and English Language. 

Skill Test will comprise of a typing test @ 40 w.p.m. in English/Hindi/Urdu for Secretariat Assistant. It will be of 10 minutes duration and carry 100 marks. 

In case of Stenographer post, the skill test will comprise of a shorthand test @ 80 w.p.m. in English/Hindi. The test duration will be of 50 minutes for English and 65 minutes for Hindi. The test will carry 100 marks. 

Main examination will be of descriptive type. There will be one paper for English language of 2 hours duration carrying 80 marks.

The final round will be of interview which will carry 20 marks. The minimum qualifying marks in interview is 50% for general category, 45% for OBC, and 40% for SC/ST category. 

The merit list will be prepared on the basis of overall marks secured in Skill Test, Main Exam, and Interview. 
 

Selection Process for Security Assistant 


The Preliminary Test will be of objective type and comprise of three sections - General Intelligence, General Awareness, and English Language. The test will be of 3 hours duration and carry 180 marks.

Physical Measurement and Physical Fitness Tests
Male:
  • 3.5 feet high jump
  • 1 kilo meter race in 4 minutes
  • 13 feet long jump

Female:
  • 400 meter race in 2 minutes
  • 8 feet long jump

Only those Candidates who qualify the Preliminary Examination and are found fit in the Physical Measurement Test as per the eligibility criteria will be allowed to take part in the Physical Fitness Test. This test is only of qualifying nature and candidates are declared either 'fit' or 'unfit'. 

In case of high jump and long jump, a candidate is given three chances to clear the event. If a candidate is not able to qualify in any event of the Physical Fitness Test, he is not allowed to take part in the subsequent events/stages of the examination process.

The Main exam will be of descriptive in nature and will have only one paper for English language. The test duration will be 2 hours carrying 80 marks. 

The Interview will be of 10 marks. The minimum qualifying marks for general candidates is 50%, for OBC candidates is 45%, and for SC/ST candidates is 40%. 

The final merit list will be prepared on the basis of overall marks secured in Main exam and Interview. 
 

Selection Process for Parliamentary Interpreter (English/Hindi/Odia)


There will be an Oration Test. For Odia Interpreters the oration test will be only in English and will be of 3 minutes carrying 100 marks. For all other candidates, the oration test will be in both English and Hindi. Each test will be of 3 minutes duration and carry 50 marks each. 

In Oration test, seven topic each will be given for each language and the candidate would be required to speak ex-tempore on any one of the given topics. 

The Written Test will have two papers. Paper I will be objective in nature an comprise of four sections - General Intelligence, General Awareness, English language, Hindi Language/Odia Language. This paper will be of 2 hours and 30 minutes duration and will carry 160 marks. Paper II will be descriptive in nature and will be of 2 hours duration carrying 100 marks. 

In the Simultaneous Interpretation Test candidates applying in Odia will need to interpret from Odia to English for a duration of 10 minutes. Other candidates would have to interpret from English to Hindi (5 minutes) and from Hindi to English (5 minutes). The test will carry 100 marks. 

The Interview will be of 40 marks. The minimum qualifying percentage of marks in Oration Test, Paper-II (Descriptive Type) of Written Test, Simultaneous Interpretation Test and Interview is 50% for General category, 45% for OBC category, and 40% for SC/ST category. 

Merit list is prepared based on the overall marks obtained in Oration Test (100 marks), Written Test (260 marks), Simultaneous Interpretation Test (100 marks) and the Interview (40 marks).
