Woman poisoned to death in Jaipur

Jaipur: A middle-aged woman - suspected to be involved in prostitution - was found dead under mysterious circumstances in a house in Khatipura locality, under Vaishali Nagar police station of Jaipur, on Sunday.

Police suspect one of her male companions, who is absconding, is involved in the murder and have started a hunt for him.

The deceased, identified as Aabida Bano (40), seem to have died after consuming liquor laced with poison. The police are searching for her male companion, Salim, who went absconding after Bano's death.

The woman had come along with her male companion to a house in New Colony situated in Khatipura locality. Police suspect that woman was allegedly involved in prostitution and a rift with her customer could have led to her murder.

Giving details, the Vaishali Nagar station house officer (SHO), Rai Singh Beniwal, said, "Aabida Bano along with a man identified as Salim had come to a house in the New Colony on Saturday night. Claiming to be husband and wife, the couple asked the landlady, Suresh Kanwar, for permission to stay at her house for a night. Salim claimed that he was known to the landlady's husband, Bhawani Singh. Thus, she agreed to let the couple stay at their house for one night."

SHO Beniwal said, "They both had liquor together and probably had heated arguments after which Salim mixed some poisonous substance in her drink which seems to be the cause of her death."

An officer associated with the investigation said, "The woman had got divorced from her first husband and her second husband Aslam had also died. At present, she was single and she had an acquaintance with Salim with whom she had gone to the house in the New Colony in Khatipura."

After recovering the body, the police have started searching for the accused.

"We have got some clues about the whereabouts of Salim and we hope to arrest him soon," a senior police officer said.
