Jaipur:
The Central government's ambitious scheme of issuing Unique Identity (UID) cards to all citizens will soon be introduced in Rajasthan.
Officials from the Union government had a meeting with the state officials in Jaipur on Friday where they principally agreed to implement the UID scheme in the state. According to officials, the meeting was convened by additional chief secretary finance, CK Mathew.
"It was decided that a state-wide campaign will be carried out to prepare UID cards for every citizen in Rajasthan," an official with the state government said.
According to the officials, it has been decided to use job cards issued to workers under the MNREGA, ration cards to families and pension cards to the people enrolled in welfare schemes for ratification of the identity of the applicant under the UID scheme. Though, officials said the date of the launch of UID cards in state is yet to be decided.
