Narayana Murthy's Son-in-Law Rishi Sunak Expected to Win Seat in UK Election

Infosys co-founder Narayana Murthy's son-in-law is heading the list of ethnic minority MPs expected to win seats for the Conservative party in the May 7 General Election in the UK. Rishi Sunak is contesting from former Foreign Secretary William Hague's constituency of Richmond in North Yorkshire.

The 34-year-old Oxford University and Stanford MBA graduate co-founded a London-based global investment firm and entered politics in last year. "I'm over the moon. It's an incredible privilege to represent this really special part of the world, and to follow in the footsteps of William Hague," he had said in reference to his selection for the Tory party.

He is married to Mr Murthy's daughter Akshata. The two had met when they were both doing their MBA at the Stanford Graduate School of Business, where he was a Fulbright scholar. They got married in August 2009 in Bengaluru and lived in the US before shifting to the UK, where Sunak's parents live.

Akshata one of the largest individual shareholders in Infosys and her 0.89 per cent stake is valued at around Rs 2,300 crore according to the Bombay Stock Exchange.
