Sources have told NDTV that the Pakistan women's team will come to India for the World Cup. "We would provide security to Women's World Cup matches in India. We are in the process of speaking to respective state governments," said Rajiv Shukla, Vice President, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
After the killings and mutilation of two Indian jawans near the Line of Control (LoC) on January 8 and repeated ceasefire violations, sources had said yesterday that the Pakistan women's team may not be called to India for the World Cup due to security reasons.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had requested the ICC to take the tournament out of India so that the Pakistani women's team can participate. Nine Pakistani players, who were taking part in the ongoing Hockey India League, were sent back on Tuesday.
