Witness' testimony may nail Qasab

Witness' testimony may nail Qasab
Mumbai: In a crucial evidence that might help prosecution in nailing prime accused, Mohammed Ajmal Amir Qasab in 26/11 terror attack case, a city-based photographer has described in the court how fidayeens arrived here from Pakistan by the sea route and gunned down people.

The evidence, tendered by the witness, Bhavesh Takalkar, is considered significant because in his presence Qasab had told police that he and other LeT operatives had entered Mumbai through the sea route and struck terror on November 26 last.

Takalkar identified Qasab in the court and said, "He is the person who had disclosed to him and police how they arrived here from Pakistan and killed people".

The photographer told special public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam that Qasab in his statement to the police had said that they had arrived by Marine vessel "Kuber" after killing its navigator Amarsinh Solanki.

Qasab did not react to the testimony of the witness and kept sitting in the dock with his head down.

The witness said, on November 27, he was taken to trauma ward of Nair hospital where Qasab told police that they had hidden Solanki's body in the boat and he was prepared to show them the vessel.

Takalkar said Qasab had told them that slain terrorists Abu Ismail and Abu Shoib had tied Solanki's hands while he (Qasab) inflicted a deep cut in the back of Solanki's neck with a sharp weapon and killed him.
