Will Delhi vote in General Elections 2009?
New Delhi:

India has seen an unprecedented campaign this time around to get voters out -- from NGOs to filmstars everyone joined in. But at least in Mumbai, it made no difference. After the disappointing voter turnout in Mumbai and Bangalore, the focus is now on Delhi which votes on Thursday.

Will Delhi fare any better?

Says Aman Ali Bangash: "I love India and will vote."

But If the messages are not getting through, perhaps promotional campaigns will. From eating joints, clothing stores, bookshops to even beauty parlours across the city, discounts are on offer if you show that you have voted.

But despite all of this, the heat could play spoilsport with the mercury soaring. There is worry that the sun could keep voters indoors.

The EC has now arranged for tents so while waiting people don't have to be in the sun and water and ORS solutions will be available at polling booths. Mumbai's star power may not have done anything to increase the footfall at voting booths, but hopefully these voices will help ensure that Delhi comes out to vote after all dot hai to hot hai.
