What next for YSR's son?

New Delhi: For the first time after his father died in a helicopter crash, Jaganmohan Reddy is in Delhi and has met with Sonia Gandhi.

After his one-hour meeting with her, Jaganmohan shared, "I have been assured that my interests will be looked into, I will strengthen the party and I am with Sonia Gandhi and the party."

There is little doubt about what's on his agenda. Jaganmohan is accompanied by Ramachandra Rao, who was close to YSR Reddy, and is the man behind the Jagan-for-Chief Minister Campaign.

When YSR died, the Congress appointed K Rosaiah the new chief minister of Andhra Pradesh. The party's high command reportedly believes that Jaganmohan, a first-time MP, does not have enough political experience to take over as chief minister.

However, various state ministers, MPs and MLAs have been demanding just that. Some Congress sources suggested that instead of chief minister, the party may offer Jaganmohan a post in Delhi, an option he's unlikely to warm to.

Like his agenda, the timing of Jaganmohan's visit is no secret. There have been reports that after dealing with the results of the elections in Maharashtra, Arunachal Pradesh and Haryana, the Congress will attend to Andhra. The party has repeatedly said that Rosaiah's appointment as chief minister is a temporary one.

At the same time, Congress sources caution that who replaces Rosaiah is a decision that the party is not ready to rush into, so Jaganmohan may have to wait a little longer for the answers he's been looking for.
