New Delhi: The trailer of VIP 2, which was unveiled on Sunday, is all that's keeping fans of Dhanush and Kajol busy. VIP 2 marks Rajinikanth's younger daughter Soundarya's second movie as a director and at the trailer launch yesterday, the filmmaker was asked if she wanted to cast her megastar father in a special appearance or a cameo of sorts in it. Talking to the media, Soundarya said that a director's priority is to proceed according to the script of the movie and that the script of VIP 2 did not seem to require a Rajinikanth-special role, reported news agency PTI. "Whatever the script demands, the director has to do that. This script didn't demand anything like that so we didn't even think of something like that. No," said Soundarya.

Soundarya made her debut as a director with 2014's Kochadaiiyaan, which cast Rajinikanth and Deepika Padukone in lead roles. When asked about her experience of working with her superstar father for her debut venture, she told PTI: "Everyone who comes in the film industry wants to direct a film with my father. So, I was blessed to do that. I think there is comfort level when you work with family."

Meanwhile, of Rajinikanth considering the idea of joining politics, the 32-year-old filmmaker told NDTV: "Dad has (always) done whatever is right at the right time. As a family, we will support and back him on whatever decision he takes."

VIP 2 is actually a sequel to 2014's Velaiilla Pattadhari, in which Dhanush, Amala Paul, Vivek, Samuthirakani and Saranya Ponvannan reprise their roles. Kajol joins the cast as a villainous businesswoman. VIP 2 is scheduled to hit screens on July 28, Dhanush's birthday.
