New Delhi: Is Maneka Gandhi playing the mother card, or does she genuinely believe that her son Varun is under danger in Uttar Pradesh?
On Friday, Maneka hit out at the UP government and Chief Minister Mayawati. She said that she is fed up of what she calls injustice meted out to her son. She also went on to say that if Mayawati was a mother she would have understood her pain.
"I am fed up. So much of injustice is happening with this young man...can't understand. Is this democracy or dictatorship? Any lie or injustice can work here. UP government should be ashamed of itself. Even the central got is involved in this," Maneka said.
She added: "DM has said that I can't meet Varun till 7th April. If Mayawati was a mother she would have understood my pain!"
Varun Gandhi has been detained under the National Security Act after his vitriolic remarks against Muslims while on the election campaign in his constituency Pilibhit.
