Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat Returns Home After Treatment at AIIMS

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh visits Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat at AIIMS Hospital in New Delhi on Saturday.

Dehradun: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat arrived in Dehradun after he was discharged on Wednesday from AIIMS in Delhi where he was recuperating for over a month from a neck injury sustained during a rough helicopter ride.

Mr Rawat arrived at the Jolly Grant airport and was received by Uttarakhand Pradesh Congress Committee President Kishore Upadhyay, along with a host of other party leaders and senior government officials.

He headed straight from the airport for Bijapur state guest house where he has been residing since being sworn-in as the chief minister in February this year.

On Wednesday, Mr Rawat's media incharge Surendra Kumar said, "though the chief minister has been discharged and declared fit to resume his routine official duties, he will have to take precautions for some more time like avoiding jerks and over-straining himself."

Mr Rawat has been discharged from hospital just in time as he is contesting the bypoll to Dharchula seat on July 21 to seek entry into the state Assembly within the mandatory 6 months after being appointed as the chief minister.
