US Secretary of State John Kerry will interact with students at Indian Institute of Technology in Delhi. Kerry, who is on his fourth visit to the country, engaged in extensive "strategic and commercial dialogue" with External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, who he referred to warmly and several times by only her first name.

John Kerry on global challenges
The most important question for both our nations is on how to ensure that our bilateral relationship is prepared fully to confront the dangers we face, and to seize the opportunities that are staring us in the face.

And answering this question correctly will make all the difference, because a rising India will play a critical role in resolving global challenges. 

Challenges to the rules based order, challenges posed by extremism and terrorism, challenges posed by extreme poverty - which if I may add has gone below 10% for the first time in human history - which shows what can be achieved. This is above all not just a theoretical exercise.

This is the kind of policy that supports the rule of law that brings us closer and in my judgement reflects a sense of confidence and a sense of responsibility. 

It is a model of how potentially dangerous disputes can be resolved in a mature and peaceful manner including the South China Sea  where the US urges China and the Philippines to respect the judgement of the International tribunal which is final and legally binding on both parties.
