UP: Cold wave claims 15 more lives in a day
Lucknow: Cold wave claimed 15 more lives overnight in different parts of Uttar Pradesh as winter chill intensified further, taking the death toll in the state this season to 205.

While four persons each died in cold related incidents in Jaunpur and Badaun, two deaths each were reported from Allahabad and Balrampur, officials said, adding that Amethi, Basti and Deoria reported one death each.

Churk, which recorded a low of 4.6 degree Celsius, was the coldest place in the state, followed by Fursatganj, where temperature hovered around 5 deg C, Met officials said.

Meerut and Sultanpur registered a minimum of 5.5 and 7.6 degree C respectively.

Elsewhere, the state capital Lucknow recorded a maximum temperature of 12.3 degree C, while Kanpur recorded a high of 14 degree C, both the places nine notches below normal.

In Agra, the maximum temperature hovered around 16.2 deg C, which was six degree below normal.
