Tremendous Potential for India, China to Grow Partnership: PM Modi

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said that peaceful, cooperative and stable relations between India and China are vital for regional and global peace and prosperity, while asserting that there is tremendous potential for both to grow their economic and developmental partnership.

PM Modi, during his talks with visiting Chinese Vice President Li Yuanchao, also highlighted opportunities in Railways, smart cities, infrastructure and urban transport for cooperation between India and China, a PMO release said.

"The Prime Minister welcomed the increased level of investments from China to India and expressed hope that the growth in the number of Chinese tourists visiting India will continue," the release said.

The two leaders agreed that peaceful, cooperative and stable relations between India and China are vital for regional and global peace and prosperity, it added.

PM Modi also told the visiting leader that the ancient cultural ties between India and China are a catalyst for growth of stronger people-to-people relations.

"The Prime Minister said that there is tremendous potential for India and China to grow their economic and developmental partnership. He highlighted the opportunities in Railways, smart cities, infrastructure and urban transport for cooperation between India and China," according to the release.

Earlier, Chinese Vice President Li held talks with his Indian counterpart Hamid Ansari after which the two sides inked two pacts including one in the field of water resources on sharing hydrological data on Satluj river.
