Think creatively, PM tells his staff
New Delhi:

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Thursday met with the Officers of the Prime Minister's Office to discuss the agenda of the government and ways of improving delivery.

The Prime Minister emphasized the need to rethink systems of monitoring and evaluation.

He reiterated the need to think creatively on the agenda put forward by the government and stressed on the need to be guided by the watchwords of equity, innovation and public accountability in the work of the office.

Earlier, after having prioritised UPA government's programmes for its second term, the PM asked his ministerial colleagues to stick to the agenda listed for the first 100 days in office.

Singh wrote a letter to his colleagues in the Union Council of Ministers to focus on the priorities and programmes outlined in President Pratibha Patil's address to the joint sitting of Parliament.

The letter also focused on the good governance, PMO sources said on Monday.

Last week, the Prime Minister wrote to Finance Ministry to ensure that the ensuing Budget adequately and appropriately reflected the government's priorities set out in Patil's address.

According to reports, the Prime Minister has suggested that policy pronouncements should not be made where there are differences in the Cabinet.  Also, he is reported to have told his Cabinet colleagues that the ministers of state, especially the younger ministers, be given adequate responsibility and work.
